Zearn attempts to merge student progress from existing Zearn accounts during the initial Clever sync. To identify matching accounts, Zearn compares several Clever fields, including sis_id, student_number, state_id, and credentials.district_username. The field that produces the most successful matches is used to merge student progress.
Merging occurs only for students with existing Zearn Math School Accounts. If a student cannot be automatically merged, or if they have progress saved in an individual Zearn account, Zearn provides a merge option during the student’s first login.
Teachers should prepare students for this initial login process so their progress can be saved. For step by step instructions on what students will experience when signing in through Clever, see the resource on joining a Clever classroom.
After the initial Clever login, progress from prior Zearn accounts can no longer be merged.
