How to Give Students Open Access to All Lessons Within a Grade Level

When students log into Zearn, they see their currently assigned lesson on their Student Homepage.

Teachers can also give students open access to all lessons in their current grade level, as well as prior grade levels. When this is enabled, students can access any lesson through their Math Library.

Lessons without a checkmark indicate work that has not yet been completed, helping students easily find and continue lessons they have not previously completed.

When to use this

Throughout the year, students move forward in the Zearn learning progression as you begin each new unit of instruction. This keeps their digital learning connected to the grade-level math they are learning in class, even if they have not completed every lesson in a Mission.

Because of this, some students will have lessons they have not yet completed.

At the end of the year, when you have reached the end of your curriculum and there is no new Zearn Mission to assign, this setup provides a way for students to return to Missions they have already started but did not complete.

How to give students access

Important: Set clear expectations for students

  • When students have access to the Math Library, they can see all available lessons.
  • To keep students focused, clearly communicate:
  • which Mission they should work in
  • or which lessons they should complete

This helps ensure students are continuing their grade-level learning in a purposeful and focused way.
